"How much does wash and fold cost?" is one of the most common questions we get. The short answer: most laundry services in Toronto charge by the pound, so the price depends on how much laundry you bring. Here's how it works, with real numbers.
How Per-Pound Laundry Pricing Works
With wash & fold (also called drop-off laundry or fluff and fold), you hand over your bag, the laundry is weighed, and you pay a rate per pound. The service includes washing, drying and folding, so you pick up clean, folded clothes ready to put away.
At The Laundry Centre in North York, drop-off wash & fold is:
- $1.65 per pound
- 20 lb minimum
What Does a Typical Bag Cost?
Here's what common amounts work out to at $1.65/lb:
| Laundry weight | Roughly what that looks like | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| 20 lb | One full laundry basket / one person's week | $33.00 |
| 25 lb | A large hockey-style duffel bag | $41.25 |
| 30 lb | A couple's week of clothes and towels | $49.50 |
| 40 lb | A family's week, or two full baskets | $66.00 |

Wash and Fold vs Doing It Yourself
Doing it yourself at a laundromat is usually the cheapest option in dollars, but wash & fold saves you the time: loading, waiting, moving to the dryer, waiting again, and folding. For many people, a week of laundry is two or more hours they'd rather spend elsewhere.
A simple way to decide: what is an hour of your time worth? If you'd spend two hours doing a 20 lb load yourself, wash & fold costs you $33 to get those two hours back.
What About Pickup and Delivery?
If getting to the laundromat is the hard part, laundry pickup and delivery costs $1.95/lb with a 35 lb minimum. That's a little more per pound, but we do the driving. A 35 lb order is $68.25. We serve North York, East York, Scarborough, Toronto, Markham, Vaughan, Woodbridge, Maple, Etobicoke and Pickering.
Bulky Bedding Is Priced Per Item
Comforters, blankets and pillows don't fit neatly into per-pound pricing, so we price them per item:
- Double or twin comforter: $25
- Queen or king comforter: $30
- Sleeping bag: $20
- Blanket: $18
- Pillow: $7.50
